Removing Your Android Phone from Google Home

Updated:

I recently bought a new Android phone. Trouble is, Google Home keeps finding my old phone when I ask it “Hey Google, where’s my phone?”

I went into Find My and there is no option to delete the phone from there. I figured I have to factory reset using Find My for it to go, right? Wrong. Factory reset and now Find My just shows the phone but can’t contact it, obviously because I wiped the account from it.

After a month or so of messing with Google settings, I finally found where Google Home tracks my phone - and it’s from Google Play. Yeah, it’s that obvious.

Go to https://play.google.com/library/devices in a browser, not using the App on your phone. Or from the main Play screen, click your avatar and choose Library and Devices, then go to Devices. Now deselect the option to “SHOW IN MENUS”. It still gets listed in your account, but now Google Home doesn’t see it.
