In the world of Office 365 I find myself using a crippled version of Visio. Any shapes I want are part of an upgrade package, so that’s not going to happen. Most of the shapes and Icons I want to use aren’t available to me, so Visio is worthless.
Back to Open Source, LibreOffice Draw has some great libraries for shapes. One of the best I found is from VRT Systems. Download and launch the file in LibreOffice, and it installs as an extension. Show the gallery on the right-hand toolbar, and I am back to being able to draw some very tidy looking graphics, none of the boring boxes in Visio.
But sharing with others in the M$ world means Visio is the tool we should use. My workaround, work in LibreOffice, right-click the shape in Draw and convert it to meta, copy it and paste it into Visio. It may not have all the handles in places I’d like, but it’s a vast improvement over the limited Visio shapes.
